ATasteOfFlava|I Will Control My Emotions This Week

Entering This Week in Control

This past week was hard.

Between another doctor’s appointment, working out a plan for my health and my job, and thinking about how I’m going to rebuild enough strength to return to work, my mind was continuously swirling.

Actually, it started the Friday before.

Everything began to feel overwhelming.

More medical appointments. Starting physical therapy again. Getting the medical documentation needed for my workplace accommodations.

How is all of this going to come together?

My daughter provides my transportation, but she also has a full-time job. Every appointment doesn’t affect only my schedule—it affects hers too.

By Friday, I was irritated and could not have been happier to enter the weekend. I needed my personal time away from the work noise. I needed room to breathe, think and pull myself back together.

This weekend, I knew I needed to create a better game plan before entering this new week.

And yes, I have another doctor’s appointment—at my job.

This appointment should help determine what is really happening with my spine and hips. The pain I’m experiencing now is different from the pain I had before my injections. Standing tall and putting pressure through my hips while walking normally is still difficult and painful.

I am truly looking forward to hearing this doctor’s feedback. Both doctors will be in clinic on Tuesday, so they will have the opportunity to talk with each other too.

I cannot control every appointment, every answer or everything happening around me.

But I can control how I enter this week.

I will enter it in control of my emotions. I will protect my focus and refuse to let nonsense penetrate it.

My health deserves my attention.

My future deserves a plan.

And my peace deserves protection.

This will be a good week.
