60+|The “Is” is YOU

Maybe right now your journey isn’t about love.

Maybe right now your journey is about you.

Maybe this is the season you are being challenged to be your own saviour, to be your own safe place.

Maybe right now you are being reminded that the people who walked away were only ever leading you back to yourself, were only ever leading you here.

And here, you are okay on your own.

Here, you are rebuilding. Here, you are adapting, and mending, and reclaiming all of the pieces you let them walk away with.

Here, you are being kinder to your soul, you are giving yourself the same kind of love you have always given to others.

Here, you are not rushing your heart, you are not depending on another human being to fix it.
Instead, here, you are doing that on your own.

Here, you are healing ..

The Power of Focusing on Yourself: It’s Okay to Be “Selfish”

How often do we stop and give ourselves credit? We know more about ourselves than anyone else does — our wants, needs, and what we need to do to achieve a better outcome in life. Yet, despite this awareness, why is it so difficult for us to pause, get quiet, and focus on our own well-being?

In a world that constantly demands our attention outward, we often forget the most important relationship we’ll ever have: the one with ourselves.

It’s Okay to Be Alone

We live in a society that romanticizes constant connection, whether through relationships or social media. But it’s important to recognize that it’s okay to be alone. In fact, it’s often in those quiet, solitary moments that we discover the most about ourselves. It’s okay to not be in love with someone else — but to fall deeply in love with yourself.

Many of us have been conditioned to believe that prioritizing ourselves is selfish. We’re taught that we should constantly put others’ needs before our own. But the truth is, it’s not selfish to focus on your own well-being. It’s necessary. If you don’t take care of yourself, how can you fully show up for anyone else?

You Matter

It’s easy to forget how much you matter when life feels overwhelming or when we’re caught in the chaos of others’ expectations. But you do matter. You can’t fuel someone else’s tank if your gas is running low. You can’t give your best to others if you aren’t your best version of yourself.

Self-care isn’t just about physical wellness. It’s about checking in with your emotions, your mental health, and your spirit. And it’s okay to say no to others in order to say yes to yourself.

Take the Time to Know Yourself

I challenge you to get quiet. Find moments in your day to reflect and connect with who you really are. Get to know your “Why” — or even your “Why Not?” What do you want for yourself? Are you ready for change, and if so, what steps do you need to take to get there?

One simple exercise you can try is creating a pros and cons list. What’s working in your life right now? What’s not? Sometimes the answers aren’t as obvious as we think, but when we take the time to assess, the path forward becomes clearer.

Stop Blaming Others

It’s easy to point the finger when things aren’t going the way we want. Blaming others can feel like an easy way out, but it doesn’t allow us to take ownership of our own lives. We often overlook what we have allowed to happen to ourselves. The truth is, we have the power to change our own situation — once we recognize that the power lies within us.

The Importance of Loving Yourself

Remember, you matter. I matter. We all matter. But we can’t fully realize our worth until we prioritize ourselves. So, I ask: What are we going to do now?

Take time to get quiet, pay attention to your spirit, and get to know yourself better. It’s okay to love yourself, to acknowledge your own beauty, strength, and worth. You are deserving of more.

In a world that often demands our attention outward, I say it’s okay to be “selfish.” Focus on yourself. Make yourself a priority right now. When you do, everything else in your life will fall into place, and you’ll be in a much better position to help those around you.
