💕 The Importance of Mammograms and Colonoscopies
A Lady Flava Wellness Reflection
Health awareness isn’t just about eating right and exercising — it’s about taking the time to know what’s happening inside your body.
As we age, screenings become one of the most powerful tools we have for prevention. Two of the most important — yet often delayed — are mammograms and colonoscopies.

🌻 My Personal Journey
In 2020, a lump was discovered in my left breast. Like anyone would be, I was scared. But instead of allowing fear to take over, I leaned into awareness and faith.
Over time, I took a holistic approach — using herbs, castor-oil packs, and intentional self-care while staying mindful of changes in my body.
By 2023, the lump had shrunk to the point of being almost hard to find.
That experience taught me something I’ll never forget: our bodies speak to us, and when we listen and take action — whether through medical or holistic means — healing is possible.
🌻 Mammograms: Early Detection Saves Lives
For women, mammograms are one of the most important forms of preventive care. They can detect breast cancer early — sometimes years before it can be felt.
I know the idea of getting one might bring discomfort or fear, but the truth is: early detection can make all the difference.
Regular mammograms can lead to more treatment options, less invasive procedures, and higher survival rates.
If you’re 40 or older — or have a family history of breast cancer — talk to your provider about what schedule is right for you.
💗 Don’t wait until something feels wrong. Let your screening be part of your self-love
🌻 Colonoscopy: A Preventive Powerhouse
Colon cancer is one of the most preventable cancers, yet so many people put off getting a colonoscopy.
It’s not the most glamorous appointment — but it’s one of the most valuable. A colonoscopy doesn’t just find cancer; it can actually prevent it by removing precancerous polyps before they turn dangerous.
Screening typically begins at age 45, but those with family history or risk factors should start earlier.
💙 Your health is worth a little discomfort today for peace of mind tomorrow.
🌻 Breaking the Silence and the Stigma
Many people shy away from these screenings because of embarrassment, fear, or simply not understanding what’s involved. But these procedures are acts of love — for yourself, for your family, and for the life you still want to live.
Working in healthcare, I’ve seen firsthand the difference early detection makes — and I’ve also seen the heartbreak when fear or delay costs precious time.
That’s why I speak up. Because awareness can save lives — maybe even yours.
🌻 Your Health is Your Power
Schedule your screenings. Encourage your friends and loved ones to do the same.
Ask questions. Learn what your body needs.
You deserve to live your best, healthiest, most vibrant life — and preventive care is one of the best gifts you can give yourself.
🌻 Flava is a taste, a style, a feeling… and caring for yourself is part of that feeling.
