ASipOfFlava|Shifting How We React

Friday | A Sip of Flava

This has been one of the hardest years of my life.

From body pain that limits how much I can get out and about, to real challenges with people in my workplace—this year tested me in ways I didn’t see coming.

It’s easy to blame circumstances.

It’s easy to blame people.

And yes… I still do sometimes when I don’t stay in control of my mindset.

But here’s the growth.

I’ve become much better at naming my frustration—calling it what it is and understanding why it’s showing up. And once I understand the why, I can choose a different approach instead of letting the situation run me.

I’m learning to acknowledge how I’m reacting, not judge it—just recognize it. That awareness alone has changed how I move through hard moments.

I understand myself better now.

And with that understanding comes the ability to shift—my mindset, my response, my next step.

Now, I’m not saying I’m perfect at this. I’m not.

But I am better.

There’s an old saying we’ve all heard:

You can’t control what other people say or do—but you can control how you react.

It’s not just a saying.

It’s truth.

And I’d like to invite you to join me on this journey—of understanding our why when frustration enters our lives, and learning how to shift the narrative so it doesn’t engulf our spirit.

Because growth isn’t about avoiding hard things.

It’s about not letting them harden us.
