Three Crows and a Windy Thursday

This morning, the wind was doing the absolute most.

Forty degrees outside.

Feels like twenty-something.

Branches swaying like they had somewhere urgent to be.

And there I was in my tower, wrapped in warmth, coffee nearby… watching.

That’s when I noticed them.

Three crows.

Perched high in the evergreen outside my window like they owned the block. One near the top, steady and unbothered. One lower down, shifting its feet like, “Okay… this wind is extra.” And the third? Slightly off to the side, head tilted, scanning everything like security.

They weren’t fighting the wind.

They weren’t dramatic.

They weren’t flying off in panic.

They adjusted.

When a gust hit, they leaned with it.

When the branch swayed, they tightened their grip.

When things settled, they just… stayed.

And I thought — well now.

That’s the lesson.

You don’t have to leave every time the wind picks up.

You don’t have to flap and exhaust yourself proving something.

Sometimes you just hold your footing.

Sometimes you just ride it out.

Three crows in a tree outside my tower window this cold Thursday morning reminded me that stability isn’t loud.

It’s steady.

The world can gust at 31 mph.

You can still sit in your branch.

And that right there?

That’s enough.
