Tower Window Wildlife with Lady Flava

A Morning After the Storm

This morning in my tower in West Seattle started a little slow.

The storm last night was intense. Wind pushing against the townhouse, rain hitting the windows, and that restless kind of sleep where you know the weather is doing its thing outside.

By morning, the sky was that familiar Seattle gray. The wind was still moving through the cedar tree outside my tower window, and the neighborhood was slowly waking up.

And then the wildlife show began.

First, Poe the crow made his appearance. He landed on his usual lookout — the light pole across the way — sitting there like the neighborhood supervisor making sure everything survived the storm.

A little while later, a starling hopped through the cedar branches inspecting the cones and needles like a tiny neighborhood inspector.

Then a seagull glided across the sky riding the wind currents before landing right on top of the pole like it owned the place.

From my tower window, I’ve even seen a bald eagle perch on that pole before — calm, steady, and watching everything below.

It’s quite the morning bird traffic pattern from up here.

At one point I had to laugh and say out loud:

Can I get paid for being a bird watcher from my tower in West Seattle? 🤣😂🤓

Because honestly, these darn patient calls keep interrupting my bird watching. 😂❣️😃

But that’s life.

Inside the tower I’m answering phones and helping patients navigate their appointments.

Outside the tower the birds are riding the wind, hopping through the cedar, and watching the city wake up after the storm.

Sometimes all it takes is looking up from the desk for a moment to notice the small wildlife moments happening right outside the window.

And this morning, the birds definitely showed up.
