A Special Kind of Love
Sunday — A Taste of Flava
I find that on my weekends lately, I’ve been hanging out on my couch watching Netflix… yes, girly movies… love stories.
And they make me smile.
I still believe in perfect, safe, worthwhile love.
At 66, do I still dream of it?
Yes.
From time to time, I do.
I wholeheartedly love My Peace, and I have loved him since I was a teenager.
That is over 50 years of honest love.
There is something beautiful about that to me.
To be honest, I have been more focused on my body and what is going on with it. I have had to put some things to the side because I am not as mobile as I would like to be.
Life shifts.
Sometimes your focus has to shift with it.
But if I could get out and about more easily, I know exactly what I would be doing.
I would be over at his place on Saturdays, learning football, drinking ginger beer, grabbing something to eat and watching a late-night movie.
Life with him is so simple and perfect.
I love my time with him.
And I honestly do miss my time with him.
Maybe that is part of why I love love stories so much.
They remind me that love can be soft.
Simple.
Comforting.
Safe.
They remind me that even in a hard season of life, there is still room to smile at something sweet.
So on this Sunday, I am wishing you a special kind of love… whatever that looks like for you.
Romantic love.
Peaceful love.
Healing love.
Steady love.
And truly, self-love is one of the best kinds of love we can experience.
Happy Sunday.
