If you had the power to change one law, what would it be and why?

If I Had the Power to Change One Law…
If I could change one law?
I would create a national “Are You Sure?” Day.
Hear me out.
We vote people into office.
Campaigns are loud. Promises are shiny. Hope is high.
And then reality hits.
Policies land differently.
Leadership feels different.
The mood shifts.
Now I’m not talking chaos or instability.
But wouldn’t it be interesting if somewhere along the way — maybe year one — the public had a structured, calm, democratic opportunity to say:
“On second thought…”
Not out of anger.
Not out of division.
But out of reflection.
Because sometimes we don’t fully understand what we’re voting for until we’re living under it.
And yes, I know the arguments:
Stability.
Process.
Constitutional guardrails.
I get it.
But wouldn’t it be something if accountability felt a little more immediate?
Maybe we wouldn’t use it.
Maybe it would rarely pass.
But just knowing that leaders answer to the people — in real time — would feel powerful.
And maybe…
Just maybe…
It would make everyone campaign and govern a little more carefully.
That’s my law.
An “Are You Sure?” clause.
Democracy, with a check-in.
