Too Loud to Feel
Reflections & Growth — by Lady Flava
Some days it feels like the whole world is spinning faster than we can catch our breath.
Everywhere you turn, there’s noise — phones buzzing, news breaking, opinions flying. People are talking, reacting, and performing emotion, but nobody’s processing it.
I think that’s why so many folks are struggling right now. Dysfunction, confusion, and depression feel like they’re multiplying. The mind is overstimulated, the heart is overloaded, and the spirit’s just trying to hang on.
Back in the day, life had pauses built into it. You could feel a feeling all the way through — sit on the porch, take a drive, write a letter, or pray about it. Now, we scroll instead. We consume. We react.
We don’t get still long enough to understand what we’re actually experiencing in real time.
I see people trying to self-soothe with distraction — endless scrolling, binge-watching, oversharing — anything that keeps them from sitting in the silence. But silence is where truth settles in. Without it, we live half-aware, chasing moments but missing meaning.
I don’t think people are broken — I think we’re overloaded. Our brains are tired, our hearts are heavy, and our souls are starving for quiet.
So I remind myself — unplug when I can. Sit by the lake even when it rains. Let the silence stretch long enough for peace to find me.
Because feeling isn’t weakness — it’s what keeps us human.
And I refuse to let the noise drown that out.
