A Sip of Flava

Trust

I understand trust—and the warmth it brings when it’s present.

I also understand the ache that settles in when it’s broken.

Trust is a quiet agreement we make with ourselves and with others. It says, I believe you mean what you say. It asks us to be open, to be a little vulnerable, to lean in without armor. And when it’s honored, it feels steady. Safe.

But let’s be honest—right now, trust feels fragile in the world.

People struggle to trust institutions, leaders, systems… and sometimes even their own instincts. When trust is broken enough times, caution replaces confidence. Walls go up. Hearts hesitate.

In our personal lives, trust is the foundation of connection. It’s what allows relationships to grow, teams to function, and communities to feel whole. It takes time to build and moments to fracture. And once it’s shaken, rebuilding requires consistency—not words.

Here’s what I’ve learned:

Trust doesn’t start with others. It starts within.

When we trust ourselves—our discernment, our boundaries, our values—we stop handing trust away too quickly or withholding it out of fear. We learn when to extend it, when to pause, and when to protect our peace.

Trust is powerful.

But so is knowing where to place it.

Today’s sip:

What would it look like to trust yourself a little more today?
