Where My Seasoned Sisters and Brothers At?

Where y’all at?

I’ve got a question.

What do you think about how young people think and talk these days?

Because listen… we are all exposed now. Social media doesn’t let us hide in our own generation anymore. We see it. We hear it. We read it.

And baby…

What is “slay”?

What does it mean to “clock it”?

Why is everything either “giving” or “not giving”? 🤣

Now let’s be clear.

We had our slang too.

We were not perfect angels.

We said things our parents probably looked at us sideways for.

But this identity language, these new terms, the way they label everything… it’s a whole different world than when we were coming up.

And I’m going to be honest.

Sometimes I have a hard time keeping up.

And to be even more honest?

I don’t really want to keep up. 😉

I don’t think my way is wrong.

It might be seasoned.

It might be old school.

But it’s rooted in lived experience.

There’s something about growing up without everything being documented, labeled, and debated in real time. We had space to just be.

Have you ever been told your way is outdated? That you “don’t get it”?

Because I have.

And I’m okay with not getting all of it.

Wisdom doesn’t expire just because language evolves.

So I’m asking my seasoned sisters and brothers…

How do you navigate this new world?

Do you try to learn it?

Do you laugh at it?

Do you just let it roll?

Chime in.

I want to hear your thoughts. 💭
