🖤 Monday Real Talk 🖤
I’ve been thinking about something…
From presidents…
to celebrities…
to people in powerful positions…
even church leaders…
There are always rumors.
Stories.
Scandals.
Some true. Some not.
But the real question is…
Why do we keep feeding it?
Because if people stopped paying attention,
stopped buying into the chaos…
a lot of that power would disappear.
I’ve come to realize…
Fame doesn’t impress me.
Power doesn’t impress me.
Because too often, the higher someone rises,
the more they lose the very qualities
that got them there.
Empathy.
Integrity.
Connection.
There’s actually a term for it—
“Hubris Syndrome.”
When people gain too much power,
they can become:
less empathetic
more impulsive
more self-serving
disconnected from reality
They start believing their own hype.
And when that happens…
people stop being people to them.
They become tools.
And we see it all the time:
Leaders who stop listening
People who take advantage of others
Systems built on control instead of care
Power, when unchecked,
doesn’t just change people…
it exposes who they really are.
So for me…
I’m not impressed by titles.
I’m not impressed by money.
I’m not impressed by status.
I’m watching character.
Because real power isn’t:
control, influence, or fear.
Real power is integrity
when no one is watching.
