Incorporating Gua Sha Into My Evening Routine
Evenings have become my time to slow down, breathe, and create rituals that care for both body and spirit. Lately, I’ve added something new to this nightly rhythm — Gua Sha.
Gua Sha is an ancient Chinese healing practice that uses a smooth-edged tool, traditionally jade or stone, to gently scrape the skin. For centuries, it has been used on the body to release tension, improve circulation, and support healing. In more recent times, it has become popular as a facial practice — known for reducing puffiness, promoting lymphatic drainage, and creating a sense of calm.
Why I Chose It:
Months ago, Olivia encouraged me to get a jade Gua Sha. I bought one, tucked it away, and only recently decided to try it. Last night, I pulled it out during my meditation session and spent about 20 minutes gliding it across my face and neck. Once I found my rhythm, it was surprisingly relaxing — almost like a massage combined with meditation.
Benefits I’ve Noticed Already:
Even after just one session, I felt:
Relaxed in both my face and neck (areas that hold tension from phones and desk work). More present in my meditation, because the rhythmic strokes became part of the flow. A sense of self-nurturing — it wasn’t just skincare, it was a ritual of kindness to myself.
My Seasoned Soul Evening Flow:
🌿 Meditation & BreathWork — grounding myself after the day. 🌿 Gua Sha — 10–20 minutes of slow, intentional strokes on my face and neck. 🌿 Setting Intentions — closing with gratitude for today and clarity for tomorrow.
Finale:
Whether Gua Sha delivers long-term changes to my skin or not, what I know for certain is that it feels good. And that alone is reason enough to keep it as part of my evening routine. Some practices are as much about the peace they bring in the moment as the results they promise. 🌻
✨ Healing is in the ritual. Intention is in the flow.
