H&W|What Are Hand Pressure Points?

✋🏽 What Are Hand Pressure Points?

In traditional Chinese medicine, it’s believed that certain points on our hands are connected to different organs and systems in the body. By gently applying pressure, we can help stimulate energy flow, relieve pain, and support relaxation.

🌻 A Few Points to Try

1. Hegu (LI4) – the space between your thumb and index finger.

Press gently for 30 seconds to help ease headaches, jaw tension, or stress.

2. Heart 7 – located on the inner wrist crease below the pinky.

Known to help calm anxiety, quiet the mind, and support restful sleep.

3. Lung 10 – at the base of your thumb, in the fleshy part of your palm.

Helps open the chest and deepen your breath.

4. Pericardium 8 – the center of your palm.

Gently pressing here can help release emotional heat and restore inner balance.

How I Use This Practice

Sometimes when I’m at work, I’ll press my thumb into the Hegu point during a stressful moment. It’s a subtle reminder to pause and breathe. Other times, I’ll use a few minutes before bed to massage the center of my palms — a small ritual that helps me unwind after a long day.

These moments of mindful touch are more than physical — they’re emotional, grounding, and deeply personal.

🌿 Gentle Reminder

Acupressure and reflexology are meant to complement your wellness routine, not replace professional medical care. Always listen to your body and be gentle — this is about healing, not pushing.

🌻 Closing Thought

Our hands tell our stories — they create, comfort, and care. So when life gets a little overwhelming, take a moment to hold your own hand and remind yourself: you already carry peace within you.
