🌿 Learning What Vitamins and Minerals Are Valuable to My Health as a 65-Year-Old Woman
✨ Becoming My Own Health Advocate
As I grow older, I’ve come to understand that caring for my health isn’t just about doctor visits or diets — it’s about learning my body.
What it needs.
What it responds to.
And what it thrives on.
I’ve started asking questions, reading more, and listening deeply to the signals my body gives me. The more I learn, the more I realize that this season of life is about being proactive, not reactive.
At 65, I’m building a partnership with my body — one rooted in awareness, nourishment, and grace. 💛
💪 1. Calcium and Vitamin D — Strong Bones and Steady Energy
Bone health becomes more delicate with age. I’ve learned that calcium helps keep bones strong, while vitamin D helps the body absorb it properly. Together, they’re a team that supports my posture, my movement, and my energy.
I try to include fortified milk, leafy greens, and time in the sun whenever I can — and I’ve started taking a supplement if I know I’m not getting enough.
🧠 2. Vitamin B12 — For Energy and Brain Support
As we age, it becomes harder for the body to absorb vitamin B12 from food. This vitamin supports brain function and helps keep fatigue at bay.
For me, a small weekly supplement has made a real difference — keeping my focus sharper during long workdays and helping me feel mentally clear.
❤️ 3. Omega-3 Fatty Acids — For Heart, Joints, and Mood
I’ve learned that omega-3s are the good fats our bodies love — helping to protect the heart, calm inflammation, and even lift our mood.
I try to include salmon, chia seeds, or flaxseed regularly, but I also take an omega-3 capsule to fill any gaps.
🌙 4. Magnesium — Calmness and Balance
Magnesium helps with everything from muscle relaxation to sleep. It’s also wonderful for easing stress.
I like to take it in the evening — almost like telling my body, “It’s time to rest.”
💛 5. CoQ10 and Vitamin K2 — Heart and Circulation
These two are new to me. CoQ10 supports the heart and energy at a cellular level, while Vitamin K2 helps guide calcium where it belongs — into the bones, not the arteries.
It’s a reminder that even the smallest nutrients can play powerful roles in how our bodies thrive.
🌸 6. A Balanced Multivitamin — My Daily Backup Plan
I’ve also added a 50+ women’s multivitamin to my morning routine. It’s like a gentle safety net — making sure I don’t miss the basics such as zinc, selenium, and the full B-complex.
🌻 7. Extra Wellness Support — For Whole-Body Health
As I’ve explored this journey, I’ve discovered a few extra supports that truly make a difference in how I feel each day:
✨ Turmeric (Curcumin)
Wonderful for easing inflammation and keeping my joints flexible. I’ve noticed less stiffness when I take it regularly.
🌿 Probiotics
A healthy gut supports everything — mood, digestion, even immunity. I like adding yogurt, kimchi, or a probiotic capsule into my daily routine.
💧 Electrolytes
I drink a lot of water, so replenishing with electrolytes helps me stay balanced and energized, especially on busy days.
🪶 Collagen Peptides
For skin, joints, and connective tissue — this one feels like an act of self-love. I stir a scoop into my morning tea or smoothie.
☀️ Movement and Breathwork
No supplement replaces movement and deep breathing. I start my mornings with intentional breathwork, a few stretches, and gratitude — it sets the tone for my day.
⚠️ Important Notes
Before starting any new vitamins or supplements, it’s best to check with your doctor or pharmacist — especially if you’re taking medications. Some supplements can interact with prescriptions or medical conditions.
Choose high-quality brands that are third-party tested. (I like Thorne, Garden of Life, and Pure Encapsulations.) Take supplements with meals, unless otherwise directed — it helps with absorption. Remember, supplements work best alongside a healthy diet filled with fresh vegetables, lean protein, healthy fats, and water. And most importantly — listen to your body. It often tells you what it needs when you slow down enough to hear it. 🌻
🌼 Lifelong Learning, Lifelong Living
At 65, I’m realizing that knowledge truly is power — especially when it comes to our health. The more we understand our bodies, the better we can care for them.
Each step I take, each vitamin I add, each mindful moment I give myself — it’s all part of learning how to live well, not just live long.
This isn’t the end of my learning — it’s just the beginning of a new chapter of curiosity and care. Because being a Seasoned Soul means continuing to grow, inside and out. 🌿
