🌻 Being Considered Normal

Reflections & Growth | Simply Flava

I’ve been thinking about this word — normal.

People use it like it’s a badge of honor. “They’re normal.” “Act normal.” “I just want things to be normal again.”

But what does that even mean anymore?

When I look around, I see that normal has more to do with comfort than truth. It’s the way society teaches us to move, talk, and feel — not too loud, not too different, not too emotional, not too slow. But underneath all that quiet conformity, everyone’s carrying their own chaos.

Some people call themselves neurotypical. That just means their brains fit the rhythm the world prefers — the systems, the schedules, the small talk. They blend in without effort.

But the rest of us — the ones who think sideways, feel deeply, or process life through color, sound, or emotion — we’re not abnormal. We’re just tuned to a different frequency.

The Myth of “Normal”

Being considered normal isn’t about being healthy — it’s about being manageable.

It’s about fitting in enough to make others comfortable.

That’s not the same as being whole.

Some of the most “normal” people I’ve met are quietly falling apart because they’re busy performing what’s expected.

And some of the most misunderstood people are the ones carrying deep awareness, creativity, and heart.

The Real Truth

The older I get, the more I realize that the goal isn’t to be normal — it’s to be balanced.

It’s to know how your mind works, what sets your spirit off course, and what brings you peace.

It’s to be aware enough to understand others without losing yourself trying to match their pace.

Normal doesn’t exist.

Human does.

And we’re all out here trying to do the best we can with the minds we’ve been given.

Closer Thought

“I don’t want to be considered normal.

I want to be understood — and at peace with how I’m wired.” 🌻
