Has Technology Made Accessing Healthcare Easier?

Technology has transformed healthcare in amazing ways.

We can view our test results online.
Request prescription refills.
Send messages through patient portals.
Schedule virtual appointments.
Receive appointment reminders by text.

These are wonderful advancements.

But I also wonder…

Has technology made it easier to reach your healthcare team?

As both a patient and someone who works in healthcare, I have seen both sides.

Sometimes patients are asked to:

  • Navigate long phone menus.
  • Decide which department they need before speaking with anyone.
  • Leave messages instead of talking to a person.
  • Learn patient portals and new technology.
  • Wait for callbacks while wondering if they selected the right option.

For many people, especially older adults or those dealing with pain, fear, or memory challenges, this can become overwhelming.

Technology should support people—not create more obstacles.

I believe we should continue improving healthcare technology while remembering that behind every phone call is a person looking for help.

Healthcare isn’t just about innovation.

It’s about making people feel heard, understood, and connected to the care they need.

What has your experience been?

Has technology made accessing your healthcare easier… or more challenging?

Blessings,
Lady Flava 🌻
