Coffee with Lady Flava
Some Friendships Are Meant to Find You

This morning I’m sitting in my tower with a warm cup of coffee, reflecting on how certain people enter our lives.

Sometimes we think we are simply stepping into a job, a meeting, or a new chapter of work. But every once in a while, something deeper is quietly happening in the background.

Years ago, during a video interview while I was still living in Las Vegas, I met someone who would end up becoming very important in my life.

Before we had even worked together, she looked at me through the screen and said something I have never forgotten.

She said, “We’re going to be friends.”

At the time, I smiled politely. After all, interviews are usually about resumes, qualifications, and whether someone will fit into a role. Friendship isn’t typically part of the conversation.

But sometimes people can see something in you before you even realize it yourself.

Over time, what began as a professional connection slowly grew into something more meaningful. We shared conversations, supported each other through challenging days, and built a quiet understanding that went beyond titles or responsibilities.

And somewhere along the way, the words she spoke during that interview came true.

We became friends.

Life has a way of shifting seasons. Roles change. Circumstances evolve. But when a connection is real, it doesn’t disappear simply because a chapter turns.

In fact, sometimes when the structure around a relationship changes, the friendship itself becomes even clearer.

Today I’m grateful for the reminder that not every important relationship in life arrives through family or long history. Sometimes God places someone in your path during an ordinary moment — even during something as simple as an interview.

And if you’re paying attention, you realize later that the moment was never ordinary at all.

So this morning, as I sip my coffee and look out the window, I’m simply thankful.

Thankful for the people who recognize our hearts.
Thankful for the friendships that grow in unexpected places.
And thankful for the quiet ways God brings the right people into our lives exactly when we need them.

Sometimes the greatest gift from a chapter of life isn’t the work we did.

It’s the people we met along the way.
