ASipOfFlava|Fairness Workers and Those We Serve

☕ Wednesday – A Sip of Flava

As I start my day in my tower…

yes, my hot water is ready… and I’m brewing my one cup of Cowboy coffee.

This morning, I found myself thinking about a conversation my daddy had with me many, many years ago…

He said,

“Susan, you don’t like working for other people because you always see how things could be done better—more efficient, and with more care for people.”

My daddy knew me well.

Because here I am… still doing it to this day.

I’m always looking for ways to make things flow better…

to care for staff and those we serve at the same time…to make it make sense.

And I’m sure there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t grumble about something at work… lol…

Be honest—do you ever feel that way?

I can’t even blame it on age… because I’ve been like this since I was a young adult.

I’ve always been the one to speak up…

to question administration…

to push for fairness…

because I believe when staff are treated well, the outcome for those we serve will always be better.

Now… I already know…

👉 That hasn’t always made me popular.

I’ve probably made a few supervisors uncomfortable along the way.

But I’m okay with that.

Because I spoke my truth—for the team I was a part of.

I still find myself looking at situations thinking…

“There’s a better way to do this.”

And in my mind, it’s clear… simple… and makes sense.

What I’ve never fully understood is why leadership doesn’t always see it from the worker’s perspective.

Maybe one day they will… maybe they won’t.

But me?

I’m still going to see it.

Still going to feel it.

Still going to say something when it matters.

So we’ll see if I grumble today… lol…

But for now…

I’m sitting in my tower… thinking about my daddy…

and sipping this Cowboy coffee in honor of him
