Did You Know ✊🏽
In 1967, during one of the most controversial moments in American history…
Twelve of the most respected Black athletes in the country came together in Cleveland Summit
to stand beside Muhammad Ali.
At the time, Ali had refused to be drafted into the Vietnam War—
standing firm in his religious beliefs and personal convictions.
He risked everything:
his title, his career, and his freedom.

So they came together—
men like Jim Brown, Bill Russell, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar—
to hear him, to understand him, and to decide where they stood.
And after listening…
They stood with him.
Publicly.
Powerfully.
At great personal risk to themselves.
This moment became one of the most important acts of unity
in both sports and civil rights history.
It showed that athletes are more than performers—
they are voices, leaders, and change-makers.
I’ll be honest…
I had never heard about this.
But now that I have…
it makes me pause and think about courage, conviction,
and what it really means to stand for something.
Did You Know…
Sometimes history isn’t hidden—
it just hasn’t been told enough.
