Wednesday A Taste of Flava

Being Resourceful: The Adventures of Nanny Flava

Yesterday reminded me that being resourceful is not about having the perfect tools or the perfect body. It is about finding another way.

As many of you know, I have been preparing for my landlord walkthrough. What would have once been a simple weekend cleaning project now requires planning, pacing, and creativity.

While sitting on my shower chair after washing my hair, I happened to notice a few spots on the shower wall that I missed.

I looked at the sponge and cleaner sitting next to the tub and thought:

“Well, I’m already in here…”

So I cleaned the spots, rinsed the wall, and then rinsed myself again.

Problem solved. 🤣

Later, I needed to refill my Brita pitcher. Rather than making multiple trips, I loaded the pitcher and measuring cup onto my walker and transported everything at once.

Problem solved.

Then came the carpet.

Instead of crawling around on the floor and paying for it later, I sat on my walker and scrubbed the carpet from a seated position.

Problem solved.

By the end of the day, I had folded six bags of laundry, scrubbed the carpet, cleaned the bathroom, worked a full day, and somehow managed to survive Seattle’s version of four seasons in one afternoon.

The lesson I learned is that sometimes we spend too much time wishing we could do things the way we used to.

The truth is, life changes.

Our bodies change.

Our circumstances change.

But that does not mean we stop moving forward.

It simply means we find another way.

And if all else fails, keep your cleaning supplies next to the shower because you never know when inspiration will strike. 🤣

What is one way you have learned to adapt and be resourceful in your daily life?
