Letting Go of Negativity
There is so much negativity surrounding us every day. It is available 24 hours a day through the news, social media, conversations, and even our own thoughts.
I know I often write about the loud world we live in. I think it’s my way of processing the “why” while encouraging others to shift the narrative. The more I observe people, the more I realize that we all carry something that shapes how we see the world.
I’ll be honest.
Sometimes I can read negative energy into people or situations that may not be there. That isn’t always fair. It is something I continue to work on because I want to become a better version of myself.
I would invite each of us to sit quietly for a moment and ask ourselves:
What truly irritates my spirit… and why?
I’ve become better at recognizing when my thoughts are beginning to drift in an unhealthy direction. Instead of staying there, I try to stop and ask myself, “Why am I reacting this way?”
I believe that question alone can change the direction of our day.
This will probably be a lifelong journey because none of us are perfect.
As an empath, I find it difficult to be surrounded by constant chaos. I try to research topics before forming opinions because I want to understand what is really happening instead of reacting to headlines or social media posts. Even then, I realize I may never have the complete picture.
That reminds me to stay humble.
What if we started a movement that begins with ourselves?
- Ourselves
- Our relationships
- Our families
- Our workplaces
- Our schools
- Our communities
Let’s intentionally support:
- Positivity
- Positive events
- Positive projects
- Small businesses that are making a positive difference
- People who are trying to make the world a little better
Everything begins with the tone we choose to set within ourselves.
I’m not positive every moment of every day. That isn’t realistic.
But I do believe we breathe life into whatever we give our attention to.
If we constantly feed negativity, it grows.
If we intentionally feed kindness, hope, encouragement, understanding, and gratitude, those things grow too.
Maybe changing the world begins with changing what we choose to breathe life into.
I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Blessings,
Lady Flava 🌻
