RealTalk|Define Happiness

What Does Happiness Look Like?

What does happiness really look like?

Not social media happiness.

Not fake smiling happiness.

Not “I’m okay” happiness.

Real happiness.

Have you ever actually sat down with yourself and asked:

“What genuinely makes me happy?”

I think many of us move through life on autopilot.

We work.

We survive.

We take care of responsibilities.

We carry stress.

We solve problems.

We push through pain.

And somewhere along the way, we stop checking in with ourselves emotionally.

The truth is… happiness does not look the same for everyone.

For one person happiness may be:

financial security traveling the world raising children falling in love helping others peace and quiet healing from trauma finally feeling safe good health purpose freedom laughter around the dinner table

There is no one-size-fits-all formula for happiness.

And I think happiness can also change depending on the season of life we are in.

What made us happy at 25 may not be what makes us happy at 65.

Sometimes happiness becomes smaller and deeper.

A quiet morning.

A pain-free day.

A good conversation.

Coffee by the window.

A walk without discomfort.

A moment of laughter.

A peaceful home.

A memory that warms your heart.

I can tell you moments where life felt beautiful.

Moments where I felt peace.

Moments where joy felt effortless.

But I also realize something important:

happiness may not always be a permanent state.

Maybe happiness is not meant to be constant euphoria.

Maybe it is found in moments.

Moments that become memories.

Moments that remind us life still holds beauty even during difficult seasons.

I think many people today are stuck in survival mode.

We are tired.

Overworked.

Emotionally overloaded.

Financially stressed.

Focused on responsibilities, caregiving, health issues, or simply trying to make it through the week.

And somewhere in all of that seriousness… we forget to laugh.

We forget to breathe deeply.

We forget to relax our shoulders.

We forget to enjoy simple things.

Maybe happiness is not about chasing perfection.

Maybe it is about learning how to recognize the moments that make us feel alive, connected, peaceful, understood, or grateful.

So I challenge you to ask yourself:

What makes me happy? Do I feel happiness right now? If not… what is missing? What moments made me feel most alive? What parts of myself have I neglected? When was the last time I truly relaxed?

And maybe the biggest question of all:

Have we become so focused on surviving life that we forgot how to enjoy it?

Let’s talk about it.
