A Sip of Flava
Rhythm and Flow Beyond the Music
There’s something about rhythm and flow that people usually connect to music.
A beat.
A melody.
A song that moves your body without you even thinking about it.
But over the years, I’ve realized rhythm and flow exist far beyond music.
It shows up in everyday life… if you pay attention.
I notice rhythm in how I live my days.
There’s a quiet rhythm to my mornings in the tower.
My coffee warming my hands.
The city slowly waking up outside the window.
Birds flying across the gray Seattle sky.
Coffee itself has its own rhythm for me.
It’s not just about drinking it.
It’s about the short-lived experience that comes with it.
The warmth.
The aroma.
That first sip that says, good morning.
It doesn’t last forever, but that’s part of the beauty of it.
You appreciate it while it’s there.
Over time I’ve also created a rhythm and flow with my writing.
Blogging has become one of my passions in life.
Each day I sit down and share something — a reflection, a lesson, an observation.
There’s a natural pattern to it now.
My thoughts move from mind to keyboard, just like a familiar song playing in the background of my life.
But lately, I’ve realized there’s another rhythm I need to rebuild.
Movement.
After spending months working from home and not moving my body the way I once did, I’ve experienced muscle deconditioning. My joints are actually doing okay, but my muscles have gotten weak.
That realization was humbling.
So now I’m creating a new rhythm for myself.
Purposeful movement throughout the day.
Nothing dramatic.
Just intentional.
Standing up.
Walking across the room.
Doing a short chair exercise in the morning.
Small movements that begin to rebuild strength.
Because rhythm and flow aren’t just about music.
They show up in routines.
They show up in patterns.
They show up in the way we design our lives.
And for me, rhythm and patterns make sense.
When I find a rhythm that feels right, life flows a little easier.
Right now, I’m simply creating a new one.
One small step at a time.
