The Art of the Pivot
This morning started slow.
I didn’t rush to open my eyes.
I just laid there… window open… listening.
The birds were already up, having their conversations, moving through their morning like they always do.
No hesitation. No overthinking. Just… doing what they do.
At some point, Musty made his way over and settled against my legs.
We both shifted, opened our eyes, and got up.
And for a moment… everything felt aligned.
My body moved without resistance.
No rushing.
No struggle. Just… flow.
I don’t take those moments for granted.
Then I looked out my tower window… and the show started.
Two crows—Bonnie and Clyde—were on a mission.
And who were they after?
Chip.
Now this isn’t new. They’ve been watching him.
But today… it got interesting.
Chip ran up the pole like he had a plan.
Bonnie and Clyde followed right behind him.
For a second, it looked like he boxed himself in.
But then…
He pivoted.
Turned right back around, ran down, and leaped to the tree like it was nothing.
No panic.
No freezing.
Just instinct… and adjustment.
And I sat there thinking…
That’s life.
Sometimes things come at you from all directions.
Sometimes you think you made the wrong move.
Sometimes it feels like you’re stuck.
But maybe the answer isn’t to stop.
Maybe the answer is to pivot.
I’ve realized something about myself lately…
I’m not the same woman I was 10 years ago.
I’m not even the same woman I was 3 months ago.
I don’t react the same.
I don’t absorb everything around me the same.
I’ve learned how to stay in my lane…
to observe without getting pulled in…
to move when it’s time to move.
Pivoting isn’t weakness.
It’s awareness.
It’s timing.
It’s trusting yourself enough to adjust without falling apart.
This morning, a little squirrel reminded me…
You don’t have to have everything figured out.
You just have to be ready to move.
No panic… just adjustment.
