What Does Self-Care Look Like When the Day Is Full of Confusion and Disconnect?
Some days don’t flow.
Some days… nothing lines up.
The information isn’t clear.
The right people aren’t available.
The calls don’t make sense.
And somehow, everything still lands in your lap.
You’re trying to help, but you’re working with half answers and missing pieces.
That kind of day will test you.
Because self-care on those days doesn’t look like candles and quiet music.
It looks like this…
Self-care looks like staying calm when everything around you isn’t.
Not matching the chaos.
Not raising your voice.
Not letting frustration take over your tone.
Just staying steady.
Self-care looks like doing what you can—and letting go of what you can’t.
You can’t fix every system gap.
You can’t make people respond faster.
You can’t force clarity where it doesn’t exist.
But you can:
give the best information you have
route things correctly
treat people with respect
And then… release it.
Self-care looks like not carrying every call into the next one.
That’s the hard part.
Taking a breath.
Resetting your mind.
Letting that last situation stay where it belongs.
Because if you carry it all… it will wear you down fast.
Self-care looks like giving yourself grace.
You’re not going to have perfect answers all day.
You’re going to say “let me find out” more than you want to.
That doesn’t mean you’re failing.
That means you’re working in real life.
Self-care looks like finding one small moment to smile or laugh.
Even if it’s:
a coworker’s comment
a bird outside your window
catching something unexpected in the middle of a busy moment
Those small resets matter.
Self-care looks like ending the day knowing you showed up.
Not perfectly.
Not with every answer.
But with patience, effort, and care.
And that counts.
Some days are smooth.
Some days are clear.
And some days… are full of confusion and disconnect.
On those days, self-care isn’t about escaping the work.
It’s about how you move through it without losing yourself.
And if you can do that?
You did more than enough.
