Wednesday Health & Wellness with Lady Flava 🌻
This winter… my hands have been talking to me.
Arthritis stiffness…
that deep ache in the fingers…
the kind that makes you realize how much you use your hands for everything.
So I find myself constantly moving my fingers…
stretching them…
working them through the stiffness just to keep going.
And over time…
I’ve learned little movements that actually help me get through the day.
Nothing fancy.
Just small, intentional movements that bring relief.
Now you know… I’m half Japanese…
And I’ve always been drawn to holistic, Asian approaches to health.
Not just treating the problem…
👉 but supporting the body as a whole
So I started getting curious…
What do finger movements actually do for our health?
What I found…
Simple finger movements can:
improve circulation
increase range of motion
support hand strength and
dexterity
calm the nervous system and
even support brain function and focus
👉 all from something as simple as moving your fingers
A few simple movements you can try:
👉 Joint Rotations
Gently rotate each finger joint a few times to loosen stiffness
👉 Thumb Touch
Touch your thumb to each fingertip, one at a time
👉 Claw Stretch
Bend your fingers down, then stretch them back open
👉 Fist to Palm
Make a gentle fist… then slowly open your hand wide
For strength:
squeeze a soft ball
use a rubber band to open your fingers against resistance
even playing with putty helps
And this part I love…
Mindful finger movements—like mudras—
can actually help calm your body.
Slow, intentional movements tell your nervous system:
👉 “You’re okay… you can relax.”
There’s even research that shows:
👉 moving your fingers increases blood flow to the brain
👉 supports memory, focus, and thinking
My real-life takeaway
Sometimes we overlook the smallest things…
But these little finger movements?
👉 they’ve helped me get through painful days
So now when my hands start talking…
I don’t ignore them.
I move them.
I stretch them.
I care for them.
If your hands have been feeling stiff, tired, or achy…
Try a few simple movements today.
You might be surprised what something so small can do.
