H&W|That Feeling Off Feeling

Monday Health & Wellness

“When You Feel Off… and Can’t Quite Explain Why”

Some days… you just feel off.

Not sick.

Not broken.

Just… not like yourself.

Your body feels a little heavy.

Your energy is low.

Your mind isn’t racing… but it’s not clear either.

You’re functioning…

but not fully present.

I’ve learned this over time—

Feeling off is part of being human.

It’s not always something dramatic.

Most of the time, it’s subtle.

And if you don’t pay attention…

you’ll try to push right through it like nothing’s happening.

But your body doesn’t lie.

And neither does your spirit.

Sometimes it’s physical.

You didn’t sleep well.

You’re dehydrated.

You haven’t eaten enough… or eaten well.

Your body is tired from carrying more than it should.

Sometimes it’s mental.

Too many thoughts.

Too many responsibilities.

Too much noise… and not enough quiet.

And sometimes…

It’s deeper than that.

Your spirit is trying to tell you something isn’t sitting right.

Something you experienced.

Something you haven’t fully processed.

Something you’ve been holding in… trying to stay strong.

And instead of breaking down…

You just feel off.

Here’s where we get it wrong—

We try to fix it fast.

Push through it.

Ignore it.

Stay busy so we don’t have to feel it.

But what if feeling off…

isn’t something to fix?

What if it’s something to listen to?

Because when I feel off…

I don’t force myself to be “on.”

I slow down.

I rest without guilt.

I drink water before coffee.

I eat something that actually fuels me.

I sit in quiet… even if it feels uncomfortable at first.

I check in with myself—

What do I need right now?

Not what I should do.

Not what everyone expects.

What do I actually need?

Sometimes the answer is simple.

More sleep.

Less noise.

A slower pace.

Sometimes the answer is honesty.

Admitting something bothered me.

Admitting I’m tired.

Admitting I don’t have the energy to carry everything today.

And that’s okay.

Because most of the time…

That “off” feeling is temporary.

It’s your body and spirit asking for a reset.

But let me say this clearly—

If that feeling doesn’t pass…

if it lingers for days or starts affecting how you function…

Don’t ignore that.

That’s when you reach out.

That’s when you talk to someone.

That’s when you take it seriously.

There’s nothing weak about paying attention to yourself.

That’s awareness.

That’s care.

So if you’re feeling off today…

Don’t fight it.

Listen to it.

Adjust.

Take care of yourself in small, intentional ways.

You don’t have to be at 100% every day.

You just have to stay connected to yourself.
