“Check In With Yourself Before You Check Out”
Some days don’t tap you on the shoulder…
they hit you all at once.
Work gets chaotic.
Life gets heavy.
Your body starts talking.
And if you’re not paying attention…
you’ll push right past what you need.
Today reminded me of something simple:
We need tools to check in with ourselves—before we get overwhelmed.
Not later.
Not after we break down.
Right in the moment.
What a real check-in looks like:
Not deep. Not complicated.
Just honest.
Ask yourself:
What am I feeling right now? Where do I feel it in my body? Am I tired, stressed, hungry, overwhelmed… or all of it? Do I need to slow down or step away for a minute?
That’s it.
No judgment. Just awareness.
Simple tools to reset when you feel off:
These aren’t perfect routines… these are real-life resets.
1. Pause your body
Sit back. Drop your shoulders. Take a slow breath in… and a longer one out.
Do that a few times.
2. Change your position
Stand up. Sit down. Lay back.
Even a small shift can reset your nervous system.
3. Sip something warm or cool
Water, tea, coffee… slow it down.
Let your body catch up.
4. Step away for a moment
Even 2–5 minutes away from the noise matters.
5. Keep your next step small
Don’t solve the whole day.
Just handle the next thing.
And here’s the truth…
Mental wellness isn’t about never getting overwhelmed.
It’s about recognizing when you are…
and knowing what to do next.
Today I had to check in with myself.
My body felt off.
My mind was full.
My day was a lot.
So I didn’t push harder…
I paused.
And that pause made all the difference.
Take care of yourself the same way you take care of everything else.
Check in.
Reset.
Keep going.
