✍🏽 Writing From Freedom

Seasoned SoulZ | Simply Flava

This afternoon, I was watching Nashville on Netflix, just soaking in the music and the storylines, when I suddenly heard it — gunshots and cars racing outside. In broad daylight.

I wish I could say that it shocked me, but it didn’t. It’s become part of my environment — not acceptable, but familiar. That’s the sad truth of the world right now: even in the middle of the day, peace can be interrupted.

But I’ve learned how to breathe through it. I sit in my tower, surrounded by my calm — my candles, my view, my writing — and I remind myself that peace doesn’t depend on silence. It’s something I build within myself, over and over again.

That’s where my writing lives. It’s my outlet, my balance, my way of processing both the chaos outside and the truth inside. I write freely, not to provoke but to connect. I touch on race, culture, and history because these things live in all of us — intertwined, shaping our lives whether we acknowledge them or not.

History in this country isn’t separate stories; it’s one collective story told through many voices. I just choose to give voice to the parts that often go unheard.

Writing is my freedom. My steady hand in a world that trembles. It’s how I reclaim power, hold compassion, and keep moving forward with honesty and heart.

Even in the noise, I find my calm. Even in the daylight chaos, I write through it — because my voice, my peace, and my truth deserve space too.
