Sometimes It’s Important to Show Up For Yourself
Sometimes showing up for yourself doesn’t look like a breakthrough.
It looks like getting out of bed when your body would rather stay there.
It looks like showering, washing your face, putting on something more your real style, and adding a little color to your lips… even if nobody is going to see you.
Working from home can blur that line.
You can stay in anything, move through the day halfway, and tell yourself it doesn’t matter.
But it does.
Because how you show up for yourself sets the tone for how you feel… not how others see you.
This morning I realized something simple.
I’m home.
I’m healing.
I’m moving slower than I want to.
But that doesn’t mean I stop showing up for me.
So I made a choice…
To get dressed.
To sit in my space with intention.
To look in the mirror and say,
“I’m still here.”
Not for anyone else.
Not for validation.
Not for attention.
Just for me.
Because when life feels off, when your body is going through something, when your spirit has been tested…
That’s when it matters the most.
Showing up for yourself isn’t about perfection.
It’s about presence.
It’s about reminding yourself that you are still worth the effort… even on the quiet days.
Especially on the quiet days…a new mindset going into my work weeks.

Dear Flava,
How are you showing up for yourself today?
It doesn’t have to be big…
just real.
I’d love to hear what that looks like for you.
