“The Power of Humming & Tapping”
I’m big on simple.
Not complicated routines.
Not things you have to buy.
Not things you have to plan your whole day around.
Just… simple.
And this week, two things came back to me in a real way:
Humming
Tapping
Let me tell you where this showed up for me
At physical therapy…
I was doing a balance exercise—standing, trying not to fall off center.
And the therapist had me tapping the side of the therapy bed.
Not hard.
Not complicated.
Just tapping to stabilize myself.
And I noticed something…
It wasn’t just helping my balance.
It was calming me.
Now pair that with humming…
That low vibration you feel in your chest… your face…
That sound that doesn’t require effort, just breath.
There’s something about it that slows everything down.
Let’s talk about what’s really happening (without overcomplicating it)
Humming:
calms your nervous system
slows your heart rate
shifts you out of stress mode
creates vibration inside your body that settles you
Tapping:
gives your body a physical rhythm
helps regulate your response to stress
grounds you when you feel off or
overwhelmed even in PT…
helps with balance and awareness
But here’s the part I care about most
You don’t need anything.
No app.
No equipment.
No setup.
You can:
hum in your car
tap your leg sitting down
tap a surface like I did in PT do both without anyone even noticing
Real talk
We look for big solutions…
And overlook the small ones that are right there.
Things we can do:
in the moment without thinking without spending money
What I’m taking from this
Sometimes calming your mind and body doesn’t require a whole routine.
Sometimes it’s just:
A breath.
A hum.
A tap.
Closing Thought
I’ve learned this week…
The body responds to rhythm.
And sometimes the simplest tools…
Are the most powerful ones.
Have you ever tried humming or tapping to calm yourself?
Or found something simple that works without all the extras?
