Blog Challenge|Morning Ritual

What are your morning rituals? What does the first hour of your day look like?

What My First Hour Looks Like

My body has been doing something different these last two weeks… and I can’t ignore it.

This weekend especially, I woke up and just felt it.

Not forced. Not pushed.

Just… there.

More energy.

More ease.

And a quiet kind of strength I haven’t felt in a while.

So my mornings? They matter to me.

Before anything else, I pour into myself first.

I start with:

Prayer

Meditation

Breathwork

Setting my intention

That part is non-negotiable.

It’s how I center myself before the world starts asking for pieces of me.

I used to add light exercises in bed, just to get my body moving… but now that I’m back in physical therapy, I’ve shifted that energy. I’m more intentional now. I follow what’s designed for me. I’ve got my tools, and I’m paying attention to how my body responds instead of just going through motions.

And that right there? That’s new for me.

This morning… Sunday… I woke up feeling good. Not perfect, but good.

I listened to my body and ate a protein bar first thing. That might be part of my new normal.

Not ignoring hunger. Not pushing past it.

Responding.

On my workdays, I keep it simple and clean.

I get up, wash up… reset myself.

Hot water comes first. Always.

Then maybe coffee.

Then I shift my mind into work mode—early tasks, phone work, getting ahead of the day before it tries to get ahead of me.

But here’s the part that keeps me balanced…

I look out.

I listen.

I wait for my outdoor friends to show up.

The birds… the movement… even catching a squirrel mid-mission on a wire like he’s got somewhere important to be.

It sounds small, but it’s not.

That moment reminds me:

There’s a whole world moving outside of my responsibilities.

And for a few minutes… I just sit in that.

No pressure. No expectations.

Just presence.

My body is shifting.

So I know my routine will shift too.

But the foundation?

That stays the same.

Because how I start my day…

is how I take care of myself before I take care of anything else.
